Technician job app
Today’s jobs, addresses, history, checklists and notes on one screen.
Technician apps for jobs, checklists, photos, estimates and payments, dispatcher tools, AMC and warranty tracking, and honest advice on when a packaged field service app is the better buy.
Quavento Technologies builds mobile apps for contractors and home service businesses: HVAC and AC service, plumbing, electrical, roofing, solar, CCTV and security, pest control, cleaning and appliance repair. We develop technician apps, dispatcher tools, customer booking and tracking features and maintenance contract tracking, and we integrate packaged field service software where it fits better. We work from Pune with businesses across India and remotely with businesses in the United States.
A home service business runs on what happens at the customer's door. The technician arrives, diagnoses the problem, explains options, gets approval, does the work, takes payment and leaves. Much of that is still recorded on paper or in WhatsApp messages, and the office finds out what happened hours later, if at all. Estimates are inconsistent, photos are lost, warranty details are forgotten and invoices go out late.
An app in the technician's hand fixes most of that. This page explains when to buy a packaged field service app, when a custom app makes sense, and what a good technician app does.

Most should start by looking at packaged field service software. Products such as ServiceTitan, Jobber and Housecall Pro in the United States, and field service tools from Zoho and others used in India, already handle scheduling, dispatch, technician apps, estimates, invoicing and payments. They are improved constantly and cost far less than building the same thing.
A custom app makes sense when the business has needs those products handle badly: an unusual workflow such as solar installation with multi-stage approvals and net metering paperwork, deep integration with an ERP or accounting system the packages do not support, very large or very small teams that the pricing does not suit, or regional language and offline needs the products do not meet.
We assess both options honestly. Sometimes the answer is a packaged product with a small custom integration; sometimes a focused custom app; occasionally a full custom system.
It shows each technician their day: jobs in order with addresses, customer names, contact options, the problem reported, equipment details and service history. Navigation opens in one tap. Status updates, such as on the way, arrived and completed, notify the office and, where wanted, the customer.
On site, checklists guide the work and make sure nothing is skipped, especially safety steps. Readings and measurements are recorded in fields designed for them. Photos are taken before and after and attached to the job. Parts used are recorded from the van stock. Notes capture anything the next technician should know.
At the end, the customer signs on the screen, pays if payment is due and receives a service report by email, SMS or WhatsApp, with consent. The office sees the completed job instantly and can invoice the same day.
The technician builds the estimate from a price book of services and parts, so that pricing is consistent across the team rather than depending on who visited. Many businesses present options, such as repair, upgrade or replace, with clear descriptions and photos, and let the customer choose.
The estimate is shown on the screen or sent to the customer's phone, approved with a signature and, if needed, a deposit. Financing options can be shown where the business offers them through a lender. Approved estimates turn into jobs without retyping.
Consistent, transparent estimates help customers decide and help the business understand which options people choose. They also reduce disputes, because the customer approved a written description and price before work began.
Many home service businesses depend on recurring work: annual maintenance contracts for air conditioners, CCTV systems, water purifiers and solar plants in India, and maintenance agreements and service plans for HVAC and plumbing in the United States. Warranties on installations create obligations and opportunities.
An app tracks each contract and warranty: what is covered, which visits are due, which have been done, and when it expires. Scheduled visits are created automatically and assigned. Customers receive reminders before visits and before renewal. Technicians see coverage on the job screen, so that covered work is not wrongly charged and uncovered work is quoted properly.
Contract renewals are among the most profitable revenue for many contractors, and they are often lost simply because nobody reminded the customer. Our marketing automation for contractors and home service businesses page covers renewal reminders in more detail.
Rarely. Most customers contact a home service business a few times a year at most, and will not download an app for it. A fast website with online booking, a click-to-call button and WhatsApp serves them far better.
The exceptions are businesses with frequent repeat customers, such as cleaning services with weekly visits, or businesses with large maintenance contract bases where customers want to see visit history and request service. Even then, a customer portal on the website often does the job without an app.
Features customers do value, such as booking online, receiving a text when the technician is on the way and getting a report afterwards, can be delivered without an app. Our website development for contractors and home service businesses page explains booking and tracking on the web.
Technicians work in basements, rooftops, crawl spaces and rural areas with poor signal, often with dirty or gloved hands, in bright sun or dark rooms. Apps must work offline and sync later, with large buttons, few required fields and photos that upload in the background.
In India, many technicians are more comfortable in Hindi, Marathi or another regional language than in English, and use inexpensive Android phones. Apps should support their language and run well on modest devices.
We test with real technicians on their own phones before launch. Their feedback, such as needing to mark a job as waiting for parts in one tap, or wanting the customer's gate code on the first screen, shapes the final design.
Location helps dispatchers assign the nearest technician and tell customers when to expect arrival. It should be limited to working hours, disclosed to staff and used for operational purposes. Employment rules on monitoring vary, and your advisers should confirm what applies.
Customer messages need consent. In the United States, automated texts require prior consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. In India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act requires notice and consent for processing personal data, and WhatsApp requires opt-in for business messages. We build consent capture into booking and job flows.
Customer data, including addresses, gate codes and photos of their homes, must be kept secure, with access by role and nothing stored on phones longer than needed.
Through integrations with scheduling, accounting, inventory and CRM systems. Jobs flow from booking to the technician app; completed jobs, parts used and payments flow back to invoicing and accounting. In India, invoices must carry correct GST details; in the United States, sales tax rules for services vary by state.
We integrate with accounting systems such as Tally, Zoho Books and QuickBooks, payment providers such as Razorpay and Stripe, and packaged field service platforms through their interfaces. Each integration is monitored, so that a failed sync is noticed quickly.
Our Shruti IT Service work, for a CCTV, solar and electrical contractor in Sinnar, covered the website, Google Business Profile and logo rather than an app, but it shows the kind of multi-service contractor for whom a technician app often becomes the next step.
By the things it was meant to change. Before launch we agree a few measures with you, such as how long it takes from job completion to invoice, how many jobs have photos and a signed report, how often estimates are presented on site, how many maintenance visits are completed on schedule and how many calls the office receives asking where the technician is.
The app and the office systems record most of these automatically. We compare them with the period before launch, allowing for seasonal differences, and review them with you each month. Adoption is measured too: which technicians use which features, and where they still fall back to paper or phone calls.
Low adoption usually has a practical cause, such as a step that takes too long, a field nobody understands or a phone that struggles with the app. Talking to the technicians concerned usually finds it, and a small change often fixes it. An app that technicians actually use every day is worth far more than a richer one they avoid.
It begins with ride-alongs or video calls with technicians and dispatchers to see how jobs actually run, a review of current tools and an honest buy, build or mix recommendation. If building, we design a clickable prototype and test it with technicians.
Development runs in two-week sprints, with builds installed on real phones. A pilot with one team or region follows, then a staged rollout with training. We stay close for the first weeks and then support monthly.
You own the code, the data and any store listings. For our general approach, see our app development page and our software development page for office-side systems.
We work with contractors & home service businesses in India from our office in Pune, and with businesses in the United States remotely, with calls in US business hours. The work is the same. The terms, platforms and rules differ, and we plan for both.

App projects begin with field research and a recommendation, quoted as a small fixed-price phase. If a custom build is right, development is quoted as a fixed price for the first release or a monthly team rate. If a packaged product fits, we can help configure it and build integrations. Software subscriptions, devices and payment fees are paid by you directly. We quote in rupees for Indian clients and US dollars for American clients, and do not publish prices because scope varies.
Most should start with packaged field service software. Custom apps make sense for unusual workflows, missing integrations or language and offline needs the products do not meet.
