Themes built on Online Store 2.0 with sections and blocks your team can rearrange in the editor without a developer.
Custom Shopify themes, Plus builds, migrations and app integrations for US merchants, delivered by developers who work in Liquid and the Shopify APIs every day.

Quavento Technologies is a Shopify development team based in Pune, India, working remotely with merchants across the United States. We build custom themes, set up new stores, migrate brands from other platforms, extend checkout on Shopify Plus and connect Shopify to the systems that run the rest of your business.
Shopify makes it easy to open a store and surprisingly hard to make one excellent. Many stores we are asked to fix share the same history. A theme was bought and stretched beyond what it was designed for. Fifteen apps were installed, each adding scripts to every page. Someone edited the theme code directly and now nobody dares update it. The store works, but it is slow, fragile and expensive to change.
This page explains what custom Shopify development involves, when Shopify Plus is worth paying for, how checkout customization works today, and how to keep a store fast as it grows.

Checkout extensions, Shopify Functions for discounts and shipping logic, B2B features and multi-store setups.
Products, customers, orders and redirects moved from WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or a custom platform.
Unused apps removed, leftover code deleted and heavy scripts deferred so the store loads quickly on mobile.
Custom and private apps that connect Shopify to your ERP, warehouse, subscription tool or loyalty program.
Recurring orders, build-a-box flows and bundle logic set up with tools that fit your products and margins.
A paid theme from the Shopify Theme Store is a sound starting point for a new brand. It is tested, supported and fast. You need a developer when the theme stops fitting the business: your product pages need information the theme has no place for, your brand looks like every other store on the same theme, or each new feature means another app.
Custom development does not have to mean starting from nothing. Often the efficient route is to take a well-built base theme and add custom sections, a custom product page and a tailored cart. A fully custom theme makes sense when design is central to the brand or when the store has unusual buying flows.
A useful test: if you are paying for three or more apps to do things a few hundred lines of theme code could do, a developer will usually save you money within a year, and the store will be faster.
Online Store 2.0 is the theme architecture Shopify introduced in 2021. Its main benefit is that sections, the building blocks of a page, can be used on every page type, not only the home page. A merchant can add, remove and reorder content on product, collection and landing pages in the theme editor.
It also brought metafields and metaobjects into everyday use. These let you store structured information, such as ingredients, size charts, care instructions or compatibility data, against a product and display it in the theme without an app. Structured data like this is also what search engines and AI assistants read most easily.
If your store still runs on an older theme, you are likely paying for apps that the platform now handles natively. Rebuilding on Online Store 2.0 is one of the upgrades that most often pays for itself.
Shopify Plus is the enterprise plan. It costs considerably more per month than the standard plans, so the question is whether its features earn that back. The main reasons to move are checkout customization, lower payment processing rates at volume, B2B and wholesale features, more automation through Shopify Flow, and the ability to run several stores for different brands or countries under one organization.
A brand with simple needs and modest volume does not need Plus, and we will say so. A brand that wants a custom checkout, complex discount rules, wholesale pricing on the same store or a large flash sale that must not fall over usually does.
We can model the decision with you: the plan cost on one side, and on the other the savings in processing fees and app subscriptions plus the revenue from a better checkout.
For years Plus merchants customized checkout by editing a file called checkout.liquid. Shopify has retired that approach in favor of checkout extensibility, and the information, shipping and payment steps stopped supporting checkout.liquid in August 2024. Customizations are now built as checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions.
The change is a good one for merchants. Extensions are upgrade-safe, load faster and work with Shop Pay, which the old method could not always manage. A custom field, an upsell, a gift message, a delivery date picker or a rule that hides a payment method for certain carts is each built as a small, self-contained extension.
If your store still carries old checkout scripts or additional scripts on the order status page, they need to be rebuilt. We audit what exists, rebuild what is still needed and remove the rest.
Shopify's own infrastructure is quick. What slows a store is what merchants add to it. Every app can inject JavaScript and CSS into every page, and many leave that code behind after they are uninstalled. Large hero images, autoplay video, several tracking pixels and chat widgets add more.
Our speed work starts with an inventory: which apps are installed, which are actually used, and what each one loads. We remove dead code, replace simple apps with theme code, serve images in modern formats at the right size and delay non-essential scripts until after the page is usable. We measure against Google's Core Web Vitals on real mobile devices, not only a lab score.
Take a store with twenty apps as an illustration. It is common to find that five are unused, three duplicate each other and two could be replaced by a metafield and a few lines of Liquid. Removing them cuts both the monthly bill and the load time.
The US Shopify ecosystem has settled on a familiar set of tools, and knowing how they fit together saves time. Klaviyo is the common choice for email and SMS. Subscription brands use tools such as Recharge or Shopify's own subscriptions app. Reviews come through apps such as Judge.me, Yotpo or Okendo. Shipping runs through ShipStation or a 3PL's connector, and returns through a returns portal.
We do not sell apps and take no commission on recommendations. We choose the lightest tool that does the job, configure it properly and make sure its data reaches your analytics. Our email marketing team sets up the flows that make a tool like Klaviyo pay for itself.
Yes. Shopify Plus includes B2B features that let you sell to business customers from the same store as your retail customers. You create company accounts with several buyers and locations, assign price lists, set minimum quantities and offer net payment terms such as net 30. Buyers log in and see their own prices and catalog.
For merchants on standard plans, wholesale is usually handled with customer tags, discount logic and a wholesale app. It works for simple cases and becomes awkward as rules multiply. We review your wholesale process and recommend the simplest setup that covers it.
Shopify uses a fixed URL structure: products live under /products/ and collections under /collections/. A store coming from another platform will almost always see its URLs change, so redirects are essential. We export the full list of existing URLs, map each to its Shopify equivalent and upload the redirects before the domain is switched.
Titles, meta descriptions, image alt text and blog content are migrated too. Duplicate content from product variants and filtered collections is handled with canonical tags. After launch we submit the new sitemap and check Search Console daily until traffic has settled.
Broader guidance on choosing and moving platforms is on our ecommerce website development page, and our article on Shopify vs WooCommerce compares the two in detail.
For many US merchants the days from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday are the busiest of the year, and a mistake made that week cannot be undone. We treat the period as a project with its own deadline. All theme and app changes are finished and tested by late October, after which the live theme is frozen and only the sale content changes.
Before the freeze we check the things that fail under pressure: discount codes that combine in ways you did not intend, automatic discounts that clash with a sale price, inventory that oversells because a sync runs too slowly, and shipping rules that quote the wrong rate for a heavy cart. The sale version of the theme is prepared as a duplicate and scheduled, so launching it takes one click instead of a late night of edits.
Shopify's platform handles the traffic itself. What usually breaks is something added on top, such as an app or a script, which is one more reason to keep a store lean. During the peak days a developer is on call through your business hours.

Theme builds, migrations and Plus projects are quoted as a fixed price in US dollars with a written scope and milestone payments. Smaller jobs, such as a new section, a speed cleanup or a checkout extension, are quoted individually or handled through a monthly block of development hours. Your Shopify plan, app subscriptions and payment processing fees are billed to you by Shopify and the app makers, never through us. We work as a collaborator on your store, which you can revoke at any moment, and theme code is kept in a repository you own.
Our team works from Pune, India. We do not have a US office, so every project is run remotely with a named project manager, a weekly call and written updates. These are the hours we keep for calls with US clients.

A custom theme for a typical store takes about 8 to 10 weeks including design, development, data setup and testing. Customizing an existing theme with a few new sections can take two to three weeks.
Deep checkout customization, such as adding custom fields or upsells inside checkout, requires Shopify Plus. Stores on standard plans can still brand the checkout, adjust settings and customize the cart, the thank-you page and the order status page.
Usually, yes. Most slow stores improve substantially once unused apps and leftover code are removed, images are resized and scripts are deferred. We start with an audit and tell you if a rebuild would be the better investment.
Yes. We build with sections and blocks so your team can change content, reorder pages and create landing pages in the theme editor. We record a walkthrough at handover.
Customer records and order history can be migrated. Passwords cannot, so customers are asked to reset them. Subscription migrations depend on the payment gateway and the subscription tools involved, and we plan them case by case.
Yes. We build custom apps for a single store when off-the-shelf apps do not fit, for example to sync with an ERP, apply special pricing rules or automate order handling.
