Checkout Extensibility
Custom fields, content, upsells and branding added to checkout through Shopify’s supported extension framework, which stays secure and compatible with Shop Pay and future updates.
Build, migrate and scale on Shopify Plus, with custom checkout logic, B2B, multi-store operations and automation designed for high-volume brands.
Shopify Plus is Shopify’s plan for high-growth and high-volume businesses. It includes everything in standard Shopify, plus capabilities that matter at scale: deeper checkout customisation through Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions, built-in B2B selling, expansion stores for additional brands or regions, tools for scheduling large sales, higher API capacity for integrations and priority support. For brands whose operations have outgrown standard plans, it removes many limits without the cost of running a self-hosted enterprise platform.
As a Shopify Plus agency, our role is to help you use those capabilities well. Plus is only valuable if its features solve real problems in your business: a checkout that needs custom rules, wholesale customers who need their own catalogues and prices, several storefronts that must share inventory, or integrations that run into limits on lower plans. We help you decide whether Plus is the right move, then plan and deliver the migration, custom features and integrations.
We work with Indian D2C brands, retailers and manufacturers moving to Shopify Plus from standard Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or custom platforms, as well as existing Plus merchants who need to upgrade older checkout customisations, add B2B, launch new markets or improve performance. Our approach keeps customisation maintainable, using Shopify’s supported extension points rather than fragile workarounds.

Shopify Plus is a significant step up in cost, so it should be justified by clear needs rather than prestige.
Checkout Extensibility is Shopify’s framework for customising checkout safely. Instead of editing checkout code directly, which older Plus stores did through checkout.liquid, customisations are added through checkout UI extensions, branding settings, pixels for tracking and Shopify Functions for business logic. Shopify has been phasing out checkout.liquid in favour of this approach.
The benefit is that checkout stays secure, fast and compatible with features such as Shop Pay and future Shopify updates, while still allowing custom content, fields, upsells and rules. We build extensions that fit your checkout needs and brand.
Shopify Functions let developers customise how Shopify’s backend behaves in specific areas, such as discounts, delivery options, payment methods and cart and checkout validation. Common uses include tiered or bundle discounts, hiding cash on delivery above a certain order value or for some pincodes, renaming or reordering shipping options and preventing checkout when a cart breaks business rules.
Functions replace many uses of the older Shopify Scripts. Because they run inside Shopify’s infrastructure, they are fast and scale during peak sales.
Shopify’s native B2B features let wholesale and retail selling share one platform. Business customers are set up as companies with multiple buyers and locations, see catalogues and price lists assigned to them, follow quantity rules and can pay on net terms. The same products and inventory serve both channels, which reduces duplication.
For Indian manufacturers and brands that sell to distributors, retailers or institutions, this can replace separate ordering portals or manual order-taking. We design company structures, price lists and workflows around how your trade customers actually buy. Our B2B ecommerce development service covers B2B needs on other platforms.
Expansion stores are additional stores within a Shopify Plus organisation. Brands use them for separate storefronts for different countries, a sister brand, a wholesale-only store or a clearance outlet. They can share users and processes while having their own themes, products and settings.
Shopify Markets can now handle many international needs within a single store, so expansion stores are most useful when a market or brand needs genuinely different catalogues, operations or experiences.
Moving from standard Shopify to Plus is usually straightforward, because it is an upgrade of the same store. The work lies in using the new capabilities: redesigning checkout with extensions, building Functions, setting up B2B or expansion stores and upgrading integrations.
Moving from WooCommerce, Magento or a custom platform is a full migration, with data, URLs, integrations and redirects to plan carefully. Our Shopify migration service covers that process in detail.
Stores that customised checkout with checkout.liquid or rely on Shopify Scripts need to move to Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions as Shopify retires the older approaches. The upgrade involves auditing every customisation, deciding which still matters, rebuilding it with supported tools and testing thoroughly, including payment, discount and shipping scenarios. Planning early avoids last-minute pressure before Shopify’s deadlines.
Shopify’s infrastructure is designed to handle traffic spikes, which is one reason high-volume brands choose it. Plus adds tools to schedule theme changes, product releases, price changes and discounts for a specific time, so big launches do not depend on someone making changes manually at midnight. Automation through Shopify Flow can react to events, such as tagging high-value orders or alerting teams when stock runs low.
Preparation still matters: testing discount logic, integration capacity, warehouse readiness and site speed before the event.
High-volume stores depend on integrations with ERP, order management, warehouse, accounting, CRM and marketing platforms. Shopify Plus offers higher API capacity, and Shopify’s GraphQL Admin API is the recommended way to build new integrations. We design integrations with queues, retries and monitoring, so spikes in orders do not cause failures or duplicate records. Our Shopify integrations service covers this work.
For Indian brands with substantial online revenue, wholesale channels, several brands or international ambitions, Plus can reduce the need for custom platforms and separate systems. Indian payment gateways, cash on delivery, GST invoicing and courier integrations work on Plus as on standard Shopify. Plus subscription costs are set by Shopify, so we compare them against the savings and capabilities they unlock before recommending an upgrade, and we tell you plainly if staying on a standard plan makes more sense.
In our experience, Plus delivers the most value for a few types of business: fast-growing D2C brands running frequent high-traffic campaigns, brands selling both retail and wholesale, groups operating several brands or regional storefronts, businesses with complex promotional logic at checkout and companies with heavy integration needs between Shopify and their ERP, warehouse or marketplace systems. Smaller stores with standard needs usually get better value from standard Shopify plans.
List the problems you expect Plus to solve, your current and projected order volumes, the checkout customisations and discounts you rely on, any wholesale or multi-store requirements, and every system Shopify must connect to. Share access to your current store and analytics, and identify who will own decisions on checkout, B2B and operations. This makes the readiness review faster and the business case clearer.
These mistakes reduce the value of a Plus investment.
Plus stores evolve constantly: new campaigns, markets, B2B customers, checkout experiments and integrations. Ongoing support covers new extensions and Functions, theme improvements, integration monitoring, sale-event preparation, adoption of new Shopify features from its regular Editions releases and troubleshooting when issues arise.
The main factors are the migration source and data volume, checkout customisation scope, the number of Functions and extensions, B2B requirements, expansion stores and markets, integration complexity and theme work. The Shopify Plus subscription itself is separate and set by Shopify. We itemise every part of the work after the readiness review, so you can see which features drive the budget.
Shopify Plus projects start with a readiness review and solution design, followed by a fixed-price build or sprint-based engagement. Shopify Plus subscription fees are set by Shopify and billed to your business directly. Ongoing support is available as a monthly retainer.
