Duplicate URL clean-up
Shopify can show the same product under /products/ and under collection paths. We make sure the theme links to the canonical product URL, so ranking signals are not split.
SEO built around how Shopify actually works, so your collections and products rank for the searches that bring buyers, not just visitors.
Shopify is a strong foundation for SEO: it is fast when themes are well built, secure, mobile friendly and generates sitemaps automatically. But it also has specific behaviours that can hold stores back if nobody manages them. Products can be reached through several URLs, tag and filter pages multiply, URL structures are fixed, themes and apps add weight and structured data varies widely between themes. Many Shopify stores also rely on thin collection pages and copied product descriptions.
Shopify SEO services focus on the platform’s particular challenges and opportunities. We clean up duplicate and low-value URLs, make sure the theme links and canonicalises products correctly, control what gets indexed, optimise collection and product pages for real search demand, improve structured data, protect speed from app bloat and plan content that supports your catalogue.
We work with Indian D2C brands, retailers and manufacturers on Shopify and Shopify Plus, from new stores preparing for launch to established stores whose organic growth has stalled. Because our team also builds and maintains Shopify themes, recommendations become actual changes in your store rather than a report waiting for a developer.

Tools & technologies
Shopify can show the same product under /products/ and under collection paths. We make sure the theme links to the canonical product URL, so ranking signals are not split.
Collections are the pages that rank for broad product searches. We add helpful introductions, FAQs and internal links, and make sure each collection targets a distinct search.
SEO titles and descriptions, unique product copy, specifications in metafields, alt text and reviews help product pages rank for specific searches and convert visitors.
Tag pages and filter URLs can create many thin, similar pages. We decide which deserve indexing and keep the rest out of search results.
Themes differ in the schema they output. We check and improve product, organisation and breadcrumb structured data so it is complete and accurate.
Unused apps and leftover code slow Shopify stores. We audit apps, remove dead scripts and protect Core Web Vitals, which support both rankings and conversions.
For stores using Shopify Markets, we check that language and country versions, hreflang and translated content are set up correctly.

Yes. Shopify handles hosting, security and many technical basics, generates XML sitemaps automatically, lets you edit titles, meta descriptions, URLs and alt text for products, collections, pages and blog posts, and supports redirects. Many Shopify stores rank very well, and the wider principles of store SEO are covered on our ecommerce SEO page.
The limitations are specific: fixed URL prefixes, duplicate paths to products, tag and filter pages, and dependence on themes and apps for structured data and speed. None of these stops a store ranking, but each needs deliberate management.
On Shopify, a product can be reached at its main address under /products/ and also through collection paths, such as /collections/shirts/products/blue-shirt. Shopify sets the canonical tag to the main product URL, which helps, but many themes link to the collection-aware version from collection pages. Search engines then crawl many duplicate URLs and receive mixed signals.
We update theme templates so collection pages link directly to the canonical product URL. This reduces duplicate crawling and concentrates internal link value on the pages you want to rank.
Collections can be filtered by tags or by Shopify Search & Discovery filters, which create additional URLs for each combination. A few may match real searches, but most are thin variations of the same collection. Letting all of them be indexed wastes crawling and can dilute rankings.
We identify filtered views with genuine search demand and turn them into proper collections with their own content, and keep other filter and tag combinations out of the index, using theme changes and robots rules where appropriate. Shopify allows customising robots.txt through a robots.txt.liquid template, which should be used carefully.
Collection pages match broad product searches, such as “cotton kurtis for women” or “stainless steel bottles”, which often have more volume than individual product names. Many stores leave them as a heading and product grid. We add a short, useful introduction above the products, answer common questions below them, link to related collections and guides and make sure titles and descriptions target the right search. Each collection should serve a distinct search, not compete with others.
Product pages capture specific searches and must persuade shoppers to buy. We write unique titles and descriptions instead of manufacturer copy, move specifications into metafields for consistent display, add descriptive alt text to images, encourage genuine reviews and include answers to common questions. SEO titles and meta descriptions are written to earn clicks in search results.
Structured data helps search engines understand products and can make them eligible for richer results. Many themes output product structured data, but quality varies: prices, availability, reviews, brand and identifiers may be missing or inaccurate. We audit what your theme outputs, fill gaps for products, organisation and breadcrumbs, and remove duplicate or conflicting markup added by apps. Structured data must always match what is visible on the page.
Apps can add useful features such as reviews and structured data, but they also add scripts that slow pages and sometimes duplicate markup or create extra pages. Uninstalled apps may leave code behind in the theme. We review your app list, remove what is unused, clean up leftover code and check that SEO-related apps do not conflict with each other or the theme. Our Shopify speed optimization service covers performance in depth.
When you change a product or collection handle in Shopify, you can choose to create a redirect from the old URL automatically, and you should. Deleted products that earned traffic or links should redirect to the most relevant collection or replacement product rather than returning errors. Temporarily out-of-stock products are usually better kept live and marked unavailable. We set up a redirect process your team can follow.
Yes. Buying guides, comparisons, care instructions and how-to articles attract shoppers earlier in their research and can link them to relevant collections and products. Shopify’s built-in blog is simple, but enough for well-structured articles. The key is choosing topics connected to what you sell and linking content to commercial pages. Our content SEO service helps plan these topics.
Shopify Markets lets stores sell in different countries and languages using subfolders or domains, and Shopify adds hreflang annotations for published market versions. Content still needs proper translation or localisation, and market-specific collections, prices and shipping information should be accurate. We check that each market version is indexable, correctly linked and genuinely useful to local shoppers. Our international SEO service covers wider market strategy.
Products synced to Google Merchant Center can appear in free listings across Google surfaces, such as the Shopping tab, in addition to paid Shopping ads. Shopify stores can connect Merchant Center through the Google channel, but feed quality still matters: clear titles, accurate prices and availability, good images and correct identifiers. We fix feed errors and disapprovals so more products are eligible to appear.
AI Overviews and answer engines increasingly respond to product research questions, such as which material is best or how to choose a size. Stores whose collection pages, buying guides and FAQs answer these questions clearly, with accurate product data and structured data, are easier for these systems to understand and cite. Our AI search optimization service builds on this.
Internal search result pages, such as /search?q=, are generally not useful in Google results and can create endless low-quality URLs. Shopify’s default robots rules already discourage crawling them. If particular searches show real demand, it is better to create a proper collection with helpful content than to rely on search pages.
We see these in most Shopify stores we audit.
We track organic sessions, revenue and conversion rate by collection and product in Google Analytics 4 and Shopify analytics, impressions and clicks by page type in Search Console, and performance in Google Merchant Center free listings. Reporting focuses on organic revenue growth and the categories driving it, not just keyword positions.
Give collaborator access to your Shopify store, Search Console and Google Analytics, a list of installed apps, your most important collections and products by revenue, and any recent changes such as theme switches or migrations. Knowing which products have the best margins helps us prioritise work that grows profit, not just traffic.
The main factors are catalogue size, theme quality and customisation, the number of apps and technical issues, how many collections and products are optimised each month, content creation needs and the competitiveness of your product categories. Our SEO cost in India guide explains SEO pricing models.
Shopify SEO starts with an audit and technical clean-up, quoted as a project, followed by a monthly retainer for page optimisation, content and reporting.
