Custom sections and blocks
New features are built as sections and blocks that appear in the theme editor, so your team can add, reorder and edit them on any page without touching code.
Make your Shopify theme look and work exactly the way your brand needs, without breaking updates, slowing pages down or locking you into a developer.
Most Shopify stores start on a theme, either Dawn, Shopify’s free reference theme, or a premium theme from the Shopify Theme Store. Themes are a sensible foundation: they are tested, mobile-friendly and built for Shopify’s Online Store 2.0 architecture, where sections and blocks can be added to any page. But almost every growing brand soon needs something the theme does not offer out of the box: a different product page layout, a size guide, bundle options, a better mega menu, trust badges in the right place or a landing page for a campaign.
Shopify theme customization adds those features and design changes to your existing theme. Done well, it gives you a store that feels distinctive while keeping the benefits of a supported theme. Done badly, it leaves a tangle of edited code that breaks when the theme updates, apps that fight each other and pages that load slowly on mobile.
We customise themes the maintainable way: by building new sections and blocks that your team can control in the theme editor, keeping changes documented and separate where possible, testing on a duplicate theme before publishing, and checking speed after every change. Whether you need a few small tweaks or a substantial rework of product and collection templates, the result should be easy for your team to use and easy for any developer to maintain.

New features are built as sections and blocks that appear in the theme editor, so your team can add, reorder and edit them on any page without touching code.
Layouts, image galleries, variant pickers, size charts, delivery estimates, bundle offers, trust badges and FAQs arranged around what persuades your customers to buy.
Better filters through Shopify Search & Discovery, clearer product cards, collection banners and menus that help shoppers find products faster on mobile.
We work with Dawn and popular premium themes, following each theme’s conventions so changes fit naturally and remain compatible with future updates wherever possible.
Reusable landing page templates for sales, launches and influencer campaigns, built from flexible sections your marketing team can assemble quickly.
We avoid heavy scripts and unnecessary libraries, optimise images and check Core Web Vitals after changes, so a better-looking store does not become a slower one.
Where an app is only adding a small feature, a lightweight theme section often does the job better. We also remove leftover code from uninstalled apps.

Customising a good existing theme is usually the faster and more economical option. It suits stores whose needs are mostly met by the theme, with specific additions or design changes on top. A fully custom theme makes sense when the brand experience must be truly distinctive, the store needs structures a theme cannot provide, or the current theme has been customised so heavily that it has become fragile and slow.
We assess this honestly. If your theme is still a good foundation, we customise it; if customisation would cost almost as much as a clean build and still leave problems, we recommend custom Shopify theme development instead.
Online Store 2.0 is Shopify’s theme architecture that allows sections and blocks on every page, not just the home page, using JSON templates. It also supports app blocks, so apps can add features in the editor without editing theme code. Most current themes, including Dawn, are built on it.
For customisation, this is important. New features can be built as reusable sections your team controls in the theme editor, rather than hard-coded changes that only a developer can edit. Stores on older, vintage themes gain a lot from moving to an Online Store 2.0 theme.
Theme developers release updates with fixes and new features. If your store’s theme code has been edited directly, applying an update can overwrite those changes, or the update may not install cleanly. Many brands end up stuck on an old theme version because nobody knows what was changed.
We reduce this risk by building customisations as separate sections, snippets and assets where possible, avoiding edits to core theme files unless necessary, and documenting every change. When an update arrives, we can reapply or migrate customisations systematically instead of guessing.
Customisation should be driven by what helps customers buy. These changes often make a measurable difference for Indian D2C brands.
Apps are convenient, but each one can add monthly fees and scripts that slow your store. For small, presentational features, such as a size chart, trust badges, a countdown banner or a simple FAQ block, a custom theme section is often faster, cheaper over time and fully under your control.
Apps remain the right choice for complex functionality with ongoing logic, such as reviews platforms, subscriptions or loyalty programmes. We help you decide feature by feature, and see our Shopify pricing guide for how app costs add up.
Every new feature has a performance cost. We write lean Liquid and CSS, load JavaScript only where a section is used, use Shopify’s responsive image features to serve appropriately sized images, and avoid large third-party libraries for small effects. After changes, we compare speed on real mobile tests with the baseline. Our Shopify speed optimization service goes further when a store is already slow.
Metafields let you store extra information on products, collections and other objects, such as fabric details, ingredients, care instructions, size charts or specifications, and show it through theme sections. Instead of pasting the same information into every product description, your team fills in structured fields once and the theme displays them consistently.
Structured product data also makes filtering easier, keeps product pages tidy and helps search engines understand your products. We set up metafield definitions and connect them to the theme as part of customisation where they fit.
Stores still running older, vintage themes miss out on sections on every page, app blocks and many performance improvements. Customising a vintage theme usually means more hard-coded changes and higher maintenance. Moving to a current Online Store 2.0 theme and rebuilding key customisations as sections often costs less over time than continuing to patch the old one.
We never edit your live theme directly. Customisations are built on a duplicate, unpublished theme and shared through a preview link. We test across devices and browsers, check that apps still work, place test orders where changes affect the cart, and review speed. Changes are published at a quiet time, and the previous theme remains available as a fallback.
Yes, that is the goal. Text, images, colours, links and layout options are exposed as settings in the theme editor, so your team can update content, reorder sections and build new pages without a developer. We provide a short guide explaining each new section and its settings.
Most Indian shoppers browse Shopify stores on their phones, so every customisation is designed mobile first. That means thumb-friendly buttons, readable text, compact galleries, sticky add-to-cart where useful and avoiding elements that push the product and price below the first screen. Desktop layouts are then adapted from the mobile design rather than the other way round.
Theme changes can support SEO by improving heading structure, adding helpful content blocks to collection pages, improving internal links, adding FAQ sections with structured data where appropriate and keeping pages fast. Poor customisations can harm SEO, for example by hiding content from crawlers or adding duplicate headings. Our Shopify SEO service covers the wider picture.
We often inherit stores with these problems.
Share collaborator access to your store, a list of the changes you want with examples from other stores you like, your brand guidelines and any known problems. For product page changes, tell us which products and variants to test with. Clear priorities help us deliver the changes that matter most first.
We agree what each change is meant to achieve, such as more add-to-carts, fewer size-related returns or higher use of bundles, and compare the relevant numbers in Shopify analytics and Google Analytics 4 before and after. Where traffic allows, larger changes can be tested against the original version.
The main factors are the number and complexity of changes, whether new sections need custom design, the theme’s code quality and customisation history, app integrations involved, testing needs and whether ongoing monthly support is required for future campaigns and improvements.
Theme customisation is quoted per project for defined changes, or through a monthly plan with a set number of development hours for brands that need regular improvements and campaign pages.
