Tampa Bay has a lively community of small brands. Fishing and boating apparel made by people who are on the water every weekend. Artists and makers in St. Petersburg selling at markets and online. Breweries whose shirts and glassware travel farther than their beer. Boutiques in Hyde Park and along Central Avenue with customers who visit once a year and order all winter.
Shopify lets a business like that run its counter, its market stall, its website and its wholesale accounts from one place. This page explains how we set it up for sellers here.

One inventory across your shop, weekend markets, festivals and website.
Accounts, price lists and reorders for beach shops, tackle stores and gift retailers.
In-store purchases shipped to another state, with gift options and scheduled delivery.
Limited collections prepared for festivals, game days and holidays.
County surtax, text consent, accessibility and storm banners configured.
Businesses that make or choose their own products and sell them to people. Shopify takes care of hosting, security, payments and checkout, so a team of two or three can run a real store, and it stays up when a post or a local news story sends a rush of visitors.
Here that covers fishing, boating and beach apparel brands, artists and craftspeople, candle and soap makers, specialty food and hot sauce producers, coffee roasters, breweries and distilleries selling merchandise, pet brands and independent boutiques on both sides of the bay.
It fits less well where a catalog holds thousands of technical marine or industrial parts with customer-specific pricing. For that, and for restricted products that payment providers limit, our ecommerce development in Tampa page describes other approaches.
With a card reader and the same inventory as the website. The region has a full calendar of places to sell: large weekend markets in St. Petersburg and Tampa, art walks, holiday markets, music and food festivals, and the pirate festival that takes over Tampa each winter.
Shopify's point of sale runs on a phone or tablet. Each sale at a stall comes off the stock shown online, so a one-of-a-kind piece is not sold twice. Customers can be invited to join your list at the stall, with consent, and reorder later from home. At the end of the day the takings, by product and by payment type, are already recorded.
Tax follows where the sale takes place. Florida's sales tax includes a county surtax, and Hillsborough and Pinellas do not charge the same rate, so a maker who sells in St. Petersburg on Saturday and Tampa on Sunday needs both locations set up. We configure them and suggest your accountant confirm your registration covers temporary selling.
By selling the life as well as the shirt. These brands grow through photographs and video from the water, shared by customers and by guides and captains who wear the gear. The store needs to carry that imagery without becoming slow, so we compress media and keep the first screen light.
Performance clothing has facts worth stating: sun protection ratings where tested, fabric weight, fit and how it handles salt and heat. Size guides with real measurements reduce returns. Collections organized by activity, such as inshore, offshore or on the dock, help customers find what suits them.
Many of these brands also supply tackle shops, marinas and beach stores. Running wholesale through the same Shopify store keeps stock and orders in one place. Ambassadors and guides can be given codes that track the sales they bring, and where they are paid or given free gear, federal rules require them to disclose it.
With retailer accounts alongside the consumer store. Beach shops from Clearwater to Anna Maria, gift stores, hotel boutiques and tackle shops stock local brands, and taking their orders by text and email becomes unmanageable as the list grows.
On Shopify Plus, built-in business-to-business features give each retailer a company account with its own prices, minimums and payment terms. On other plans, a wholesale app with customer tags provides much the same. Retailers log in, see their pricing, reorder from past orders and receive a proper invoice.
We set up an application form for new stockists, resale certificate handling so wholesale orders are not taxed, case quantities and shipping rules. Stock is shared with the consumer store, and you can hold back quantities for either channel ahead of the winter season, when visitors fill the beach towns and shops reorder often.
By making it easy to send things home. Much of the region's retail trade comes from visitors and seasonal residents who do not want to carry a purchase onto a plane. Shopify's point of sale can ship an in-store purchase to an address in another state, charging the right tax and shipping.
Those customers are worth keeping. With their consent, the purchase creates a customer record, and an email a few weeks later with something similar brings a second order. Seasonal residents who return each winter can be told when new stock arrives.
Gifting matters all year in a place people visit and retire to. We add gift messages, gift wrapping as an option, delivery on a chosen date and gift cards sent by email. A page of gifts under set prices, and another of things made locally, tends to be among the most visited on a boutique's site in November and December.
By building the collection ahead and controlling stock. Tampa Bay's sports teams, its winter festival and its holiday season all create moments when a limited design can sell out in hours.
We prepare the collection page and keep it hidden until the release. Inventory is set so it cannot oversell, with a limit per customer for scarce items. Email and text subscribers are told the exact time, and loyal customers can be given early access. Print-on-demand suits designs with uncertain demand, since nothing is produced until it is ordered.
One caution: team names, logos and colors used together are protected, and so are the names of some events. Designs that borrow them without a license invite a takedown and can lose you the store. We will raise it if a planned product looks risky, and your attorney can advise on what is safe.
Merchandise without restriction, and regulated products only with care. A brewery or distillery can sell clothing, glassware, gift cards and event tickets like any other shop, and share inventory with the taproom through the point of sale.
Selling alcohol or tobacco online is a different matter. It depends on your license, on the laws of the states you ship to, and on Shopify's and the payment provider's own terms, which restrict both categories. Tobacco in particular usually needs a separate payment gateway, an age verification service and adult-signature delivery, and the large advertising platforms will not promote it.
We start by confirming what your license and your providers allow, then build to that. Where a regulated product cannot be sold through the store, the site can still present it and point customers to where it is available. We do not build around platform rules, since the usual result is a suspended account.
Tax, consent, accessibility and readiness for storms. Shopify calculates Florida sales tax with the county surtax once your registration is configured, and applies the state's periodic tax holidays if the eligible products are tagged correctly. Your accountant should confirm the setup.
Promotional text messages fall under a strict Florida law as well as the federal one, so the sign-up form needs clear written consent. Themes are built to WCAG 2.2 level AA and tested with a keyboard, a screen reader and enlarged text. Florida sees many accessibility claims, and many customers here benefit directly from larger type and stronger contrast.
For hurricane season we prepare an announcement bar, extended delivery estimates and a message to customers with open orders, ready to switch on from a phone. Shopify itself keeps running. What stops is local dispatch, and customers accept a delay when they are told promptly.
On a development store you can open at any time. We review your products, channels and current sales, agree a written scope, design the main pages and build. Before launch we place test orders for shipping, pickup, point of sale in each county, wholesale and ship-home, and check tax, emails and stock movements.
A custom theme is worth it when your look is distinctive or your products need unusual presentation. For a new store, a well-configured existing theme is often enough, and we say so. Apps are kept few, since each adds cost and weight.
Calls are between 9 am and 1 pm Eastern, and changes requested in your afternoon are usually ready by morning. You own the Shopify account, the domain and the payment accounts. We are based in Pune and have no office in Tampa, so photography should be arranged locally. Growth through search is covered on our SEO services in Tampa page. A Shopify build is quoted as a fixed price in US dollars against a written scope and paid in milestones. The price depends on whether the theme is custom or configured, the number of products, point of sale locations, wholesale setup and any integrations. Shopify's subscription, payment processing fees, apps and hardware are paid by you directly. Speed audits and ongoing improvements are available as fixed-price projects or a monthly plan. We do not publish prices because stores vary so much, but each proposal lists the work and the running costs to expect.
Our team works from Pune, India. We do not have a US office, so every project is run remotely with a named project manager, a weekly call and written updates. These are the hours we keep for calls with US clients.
