Goal-led campaign choices
Awareness, consideration and conversion campaigns are built differently, with the right formats, bidding and measurement for each objective.
Video campaigns that reach the right viewers on phones and TV screens, hold attention in the first seconds and drive measurable lift, traffic and conversions.
YouTube reaches a vast share of India’s internet users, across metros and smaller towns, in English, Hindi and regional languages, on phones and increasingly on connected TVs. For advertisers, it combines the storytelling power of video with the targeting precision of Google’s data: you can reach people based on what they have searched for, the videos and channels they watch, their life stage, their interests and whether they have visited your website or watched your videos before.
YouTube advertising is not the same as growing a YouTube channel. Channel growth relies on organic content that viewers choose to watch. Advertising places your videos in front of chosen audiences before, during or alongside other content, or in search results and feeds, and you pay for impressions, views or conversions. It can build awareness for a launch, change perceptions of a brand, explain a product that needs demonstration, drive consideration and remind people who visited your website to come back and convert.
As a YouTube advertising agency, we plan and run video campaigns end to end: choosing the right campaign types and formats for your goal, building audiences, guiding or producing creative that works in the first five seconds, setting bidding and frequency, and measuring results with the right metrics, whether that is reach and brand lift, views and engagement or conversions and cost per acquisition. YouTube combines very large reach with detailed targeting and the persuasive power of sound and motion. It is well suited to products that benefit from demonstration, brands launching something new, categories where trust and understanding matter, such as finance, education, real estate, automobiles and healthcare, and businesses wanting to reach audiences in regional languages or on television screens.
Different formats suit different goals.
Google Ads offers video campaign subtypes for different objectives. Video reach campaigns maximise unique reach efficiently, often combining bumper, skippable and Shorts formats. Video view campaigns focus on views and engagement. Demand Gen campaigns serve video and image ads across YouTube, Discover and Gmail with conversion-focused bidding and lookalike audiences. Video ads also run inside Performance Max campaigns. We select campaign types based on your goal and measurement approach.
YouTube targeting uses Google’s data in several ways. Custom segments reach people who searched specific terms on Google or visited certain types of websites. In-market segments reach people researching purchases in categories such as cars, property or education. Life events reach people moving home, getting married or starting a business. Remarketing reaches website visitors and past video viewers. Customer Match uses your customer lists, with consent. Placements and topics target specific channels or content themes.
Viewers decide within seconds whether to skip. Effective ads grab attention immediately with a strong visual, question or situation, introduce the brand early and naturally, communicate one clear message, work with sound off through captions and on-screen text, and end with a clear next step. Google’s research-based ABCD principles, attract, brand, connect and direct, summarise these practices. We test several edits and lengths, since small changes in the opening can make a large difference.
Not always. Many effective YouTube ads are simple: a founder or expert speaking to camera, product demonstrations, customer stories, screen recordings for software or edits of existing footage. What matters is clarity, relevance and a strong opening. For premium brand campaigns, professional production may be justified. We can edit existing content into ad-ready versions, or plan and produce new videos. Our reels and short-form video team produces vertical creatives.
Shorts ads appear between vertical Shorts videos in the Shorts feed. They reach viewers who spend much of their time in short-form content, particularly younger mobile audiences. Vertical creatives designed for the format, with fast hooks and native-feeling style, usually perform better than horizontal ads cropped to fit. Most video campaign types can include Shorts inventory when vertical assets are provided.
The right metrics depend on the goal.
A brand lift study measures whether a YouTube campaign changed how people think about your brand. Google surveys people who saw your ad and a comparable group who did not, asking about ad recall, awareness, consideration or purchase intent. The difference shows the lift caused by the campaign. Studies require minimum budgets, which vary by market and metric. Search lift studies measure increases in searches for your brand.
Yes. Demand Gen and conversion-focused video campaigns optimise for actions on your website or app, using smart bidding. They work best with strong conversion tracking, enough conversion volume and creatives with clear calls to action. Remarketing to people who visited product pages or watched most of a video is often particularly effective. YouTube ads also increase the performance of Search campaigns by driving branded searches.
Seeing the same ad too many times annoys viewers. Frequency caps limit how often a person sees your ads within a period, and ad sequencing can tell a story across multiple videos in order. For brand safety, inventory type settings, content label exclusions, topic and placement exclusions keep ads away from sensitive or unsuitable content. We review placement reports and add exclusions where needed.
For many brands, yes. A large share of YouTube viewing in India is in Hindi and regional languages. Ads in the viewer’s language, targeted to regions and language audiences, often achieve better attention and lower costs than English-only campaigns. Creatives can be dubbed or re-voiced, with on-screen text translated.
YouTube is increasingly watched on connected TVs, where viewing is often shared by families and ads are seen on a large screen with sound. Campaigns can include or focus on TV screens, which suits premium awareness, automobiles, real estate, consumer goods and financial services. Creatives for TV should be high quality and designed for full-screen viewing. For streaming TV inventory beyond YouTube, our programmatic advertising service buys connected TV across other apps and publishers.
Budgets depend on the audience size, target reach and frequency, campaign duration and goals. Awareness campaigns are planned around reach and cost per thousand impressions; performance campaigns around cost per acquisition. Very small budgets spread across many audiences rarely show clear results. We recommend focused flights with clear goals and measurement.
These problems frequently reduce YouTube ad performance.
Bidding follows the goal. Reach campaigns use target cost per thousand impressions to buy reach efficiently. View campaigns use cost per view, paying when viewers watch a meaningful portion or interact. Conversion-focused campaigns use target cost per acquisition or maximise conversions, relying on conversion data. Choosing a strategy that does not match the goal, such as optimising for views when you need leads, is a common source of disappointing results.
Ad sequencing shows viewers a series of videos in a set order, for example a short teaser, then a product demonstration, then an offer. This mirrors how people move from awareness to consideration and suits launches and complex products. Sequences work best with a clear narrative, consistent branding and frequency limits so viewers are not overwhelmed.
Launches, festive seasons, admission periods and sale events benefit from a planned flight: a reach-focused burst to build awareness in the weeks before, followed by consideration and conversion campaigns as the date approaches, with remarketing afterwards. Booking masthead placements or reserving reach well in advance can secure visibility on the most competitive days.
YouTube works best as part of a connected plan. Video builds awareness and interest, Google Search ads capture the resulting demand, and display and remarketing ads bring back visitors who did not convert. Video viewers can be added to remarketing lists across Google campaigns. Coordinated messaging across channels increases overall results.
YouTube ads are managed per campaign flight or as part of a monthly paid media retainer. Video production can be included or quoted separately. Ad spend is paid directly to Google.
