B2B event tracking
RFQs, datasheet and CAD downloads, calls, emails and WhatsApp clicks tracked as key events.
Tracking that shows which pages, products and campaigns bring real RFQs and dealer enquiries, and practical improvements to the pages industrial buyers use, even on low-traffic B2B sites.
Quavento Technologies provides analytics and conversion rate optimisation for manufacturers. We set up Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and Search Console to measure what matters on an industrial website, connect enquiries to outcomes in your CRM, and improve the product pages, request-for-quote forms and contact paths that buyers use. We work from Pune with manufacturers across India and remotely with manufacturers in the United States.
Manufacturing websites are often measured by the wrong numbers. Visitors and page views look healthy, but nobody can say which products generate enquiries, which campaigns bring buyers rather than job seekers, or why engineers download a datasheet and then leave. Without that, decisions about the website and marketing budget are guesses.
Industrial sites also have little traffic compared with consumer sites, which changes how optimisation should be done. This page explains how we measure and improve manufacturing websites realistically.
Last updated:
RFQs, datasheet and CAD downloads, calls, emails and WhatsApp clicks tracked as key events.
Enquiries linked to quotations and orders, so channels are judged by revenue.
Search Console data showing which product and specification searches find you.
Heatmaps, session recordings and buyer interviews where traffic is too low for A/B tests.
RFQ forms, product pages and trust signals made clearer and easier to act on.
Enquiries, sources, products and outcomes on one page, updated automatically.
Actions that show buying interest, and their outcomes. For an industrial website, the most important actions are requests for quotation, contact form submissions, phone calls from the site, WhatsApp and email clicks, dealer applications, and downloads of datasheets, catalogues, drawings and CAD files. Each is set up as an event in Google Analytics 4, and the most valuable are marked as key events.
Engagement with product pages matters too. Which products are viewed, which specifications are filtered on, which videos are watched and which pages lead to enquiries all inform both marketing and product decisions. A product with many views and few enquiries may have a pricing, specification or presentation problem.
Page views and session counts are still useful for spotting trends, but on their own they say little. A month with fewer visitors and more RFQs is a better month.
With Google Tag Manager, a written measurement plan and testing. The plan lists each action to measure, how it is identified on the site, what details to record with it, such as the product or form, and which actions count as key events. Tags are then configured in Tag Manager rather than scattered through the website's code, which makes changes easier and safer.
Search Console is connected to show which search queries bring visitors to which pages, a particularly valuable view for manufacturers whose buyers search by product, material and specification. Advertising accounts are linked so that campaign results can be compared on the same events.
Consent is handled as well. Analytics and advertising tags should respect visitors' choices, using a consent banner and Google's consent mode where appropriate. India's data protection law and several US state privacy laws require notice and, in some cases, consent. We configure the technical side; your legal adviser confirms the requirements.
By passing source information into your CRM and following each enquiry to its outcome. When a buyer submits an RFQ, the form records how they arrived: the campaign, the search query where available, and the landing page. That information travels with the lead into the CRM.
As the sales team qualifies, quotes and wins or loses the opportunity, those stages are recorded. Reports can then show not just which channels bring enquiries but which bring orders and order value. Outcomes can also be sent back to Google Ads and LinkedIn as offline conversions, which helps their bidding systems find more real buyers.
Phone calls deserve attention, because many industrial buyers prefer to call. Call tracking with numbers assigned by source, or at least a record of which page a click-to-call came from, closes a large gap in most manufacturers' data. Our marketing automation for manufacturers page covers the CRM side in more detail.
Usually not reliably. A/B testing compares two versions of a page and needs enough conversions to tell whether a difference is real or chance. A manufacturing site that receives a few dozen RFQs a month would need to run most tests for a very long time, and results would still be uncertain.
That does not mean optimisation is impossible. It means using methods suited to small numbers. Session recordings show how real buyers move through product pages and forms, and where they hesitate or give up. Heatmaps show what is clicked and how far people scroll. Short interviews with recent customers and with your sales team reveal what buyers needed to know and could not find.
Changes are then made on the basis of clear evidence and good practice, and results are watched over longer periods. Where traffic is high enough, for example on a busy spare parts store, proper A/B tests become worthwhile, and we run them.
In our reviews of manufacturing websites, a few problems appear again and again. Product pages describe the company rather than the product, with missing dimensions, materials, ratings, tolerances or downloadable datasheets. Buyers who cannot confirm that a product meets their specification leave to find a supplier whose site shows it.
RFQ forms are often too long, ask for budget before the buyer knows your capability, do not accept drawing uploads, or fail on mobile phones. Contact details are hidden, phone numbers cannot be tapped, and there is no WhatsApp option for buyers who prefer it. Certifications, capacity, industries served and real photographs of the plant are missing, so the site gives no reason to trust an unfamiliar supplier.
Each of these can be fixed, and fixing them often matters more than any campaign. Our website development for manufacturers team rebuilds pages where needed. The configurator on the Shriram Industries site is an example of letting buyers specify what they want before they ask.
By answering the buyer's questions in the order they ask them. A strong industrial product page opens with what the product is and what it is used for, then shows key specifications in a scannable table, variants and sizes, materials and finishes, certifications and test standards, downloadable documents, real images and, where helpful, video. A clear call to request a quote or talk to an engineer sits close to the specifications.
RFQ forms should ask only what is needed to respond: product or application, quantity, delivery location, contact details and an optional file upload. Optional detailed fields can follow for buyers who want to give more. The confirmation should say who will reply and when.
We prioritise changes by likely impact and effort, make them in small batches and watch the effect on enquiries and their quality over several weeks. Your sales team's view of lead quality is part of the measure, since more enquiries of the wrong kind are not an improvement.
Partly, and with care. Some tools identify the organisation behind a visit from its network, which can tell a sales team that a target account has been reading product pages. LinkedIn also reports company-level engagement with ads and website visits for its advertisers.
These tools identify organisations, not individuals, and their accuracy varies, especially for visitors on mobile networks or working remotely. They can be useful for prioritising follow-up in account-based marketing, but they should not be treated as precise lead lists.
Privacy rules apply. Collecting and using personal data about identifiable visitors requires a lawful basis and appropriate notice under data protection laws in India, the United States and elsewhere. We recommend tools and configurations that respect those rules, and we include them in your privacy notice.
A single page they will actually read. We build dashboards, typically in Looker Studio, that show enquiries by source, product and region, key events over time, top landing pages, search queries bringing buyers and, where the CRM is connected, quotations and orders from each channel.
Dashboards update automatically, so the monthly marketing conversation starts from the same numbers for everyone. For owners and directors, a short monthly summary in plain language explains what changed, why and what we will do next.
Good reporting changes behaviour. When a sales head can see that enquiries from one product page are converting well while another attracts many visitors and few RFQs, decisions about content, pricing and campaigns become far easier.
It starts with an audit of your current tracking, website and data: what is measured, what is missing, what is wrong. Most manufacturing sites we review have gaps such as untracked calls, forms that are not recorded, duplicate tags or no link to the CRM. We then write the measurement plan and implement it.
With reliable data in place, we gather qualitative evidence through recordings, heatmaps and interviews, and propose a prioritised list of improvements. Changes are made in batches and reviewed monthly. Dashboards and plain-language reports keep everyone informed.
All accounts, including Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Console, are in your company's name. For our general approach, see our analytics and CRO service page, or start with a focused GA4 setup.
We work with manufacturers in India from our office in Pune, and with businesses in the United States remotely, with calls in US business hours. The work is the same. The terms, platforms and rules differ, and we plan for both.

Analytics setup is quoted as a fixed-price project after the audit. Ongoing conversion optimisation and reporting is a monthly plan. Tool subscriptions, such as call tracking or session recording beyond free tiers, are paid by you directly. The cost depends on the size of the site, the number of events and integrations, and how much page improvement work is included. We quote in rupees for Indian clients and US dollars for American clients, and do not publish prices because scope varies.
Requests for quotation, contact forms, calls, WhatsApp and email clicks, dealer applications and downloads of datasheets, catalogues and CAD files, with the most valuable marked as key events.
Yes. Source details are passed into your CRM with each enquiry, and outcomes such as quotations and orders are reported by channel and can be sent back to ad platforms.
Usually not, because traffic and conversions are too low for reliable results. Recordings, heatmaps and buyer interviews guide improvements instead, with A/B tests used on busy pages.
Common reasons are missing specifications or datasheets, long or broken RFQ forms, hidden contact options and too little proof of capability. Recordings and interviews show which apply to you.
Some tools identify organisations, not individuals, with varying accuracy. They help prioritise follow-up but must be used within privacy rules and disclosed in your privacy notice.
Yes, usually in Looker Studio, showing enquiries by source and product, key events, landing pages, search queries and, with a CRM link, quotations and orders.
Yes, remotely from Pune with reports and calls in US business hours, including consent setup for US state privacy laws as your counsel advises.
