Custom Software Development Company in Charlotte, NC

What we do for businesses in Charlotte.

Quavento Technologies develops custom software for companies in Charlotte, North Carolina. We build web applications, customer and staff portals, internal tools, dashboards and the integrations that connect them to systems you already use. We work remotely from Pune, India, hold calls between 9 am and 1 pm Eastern Time and price in US dollars.

Charlotte's companies are growing fast, and growth exposes the limits of spreadsheets. A builder that closed two hundred homes a year now closes eight hundred. A service company that covered one county now covers six in two states. A software vendor that sold to small firms has landed its first bank and discovered what a security review involves.

This page describes the software we build for the region's main kinds of business, the standards that buyers here expect and, plainly, what a team in India can and cannot take on for the financial sector.

Guide

What you should know in Charlotte.

When is custom software the right choice?

When growth has outrun the tools and a packaged product does not fit how you work. Accounting, payroll and email should be bought. So should industry platforms where they fit: a builder should use an established system for accounting and purchasing, and a service company should use a field service platform if one suits it.

Custom work pays in the gaps. The builder's system tracks costs but not what each buyer chose at the design center. The service platform schedules jobs but cannot apply different tax and permit rules on either side of a state line. The engineering firm's document system stores files but does not show who must review what by Friday.

We build the missing piece and connect it to the core system, so nothing is typed twice. A first project should be small and specific, with a return you can measure in months. Our guide to planning an MVP explains how to choose it.

What do home builders need?

One view of each house from contract to warranty. The Charlotte region builds a very large number of new homes, and each involves a lot, a plan, dozens of buyer selections, a schedule with many trade partners, municipal inspections and a warranty period afterwards.

We build the pieces builders' core systems lack. A design center tool lets buyers make selections with prices and deadlines, and turns the result into instructions for purchasing and the trades. A schedule shows each trade exactly where and when they are needed and warns when a delay will ripple. Superintendents complete quality checklists on a tablet with photographs.

After closing, a homeowner portal takes warranty requests with photographs, routes them to the right trade and tracks them to completion, which is where builders' reputations are won or lost. Buyers relocating from other states are common here, so the system keeps them informed with regular photographs and updates without anyone having to remember to send them.

  • Buyer selections with pricing and cut-off dates.
  • Trade schedules with delay warnings.
  • Quality checklists with photographs.
  • Warranty requests tracked to completion.
  • Automatic progress updates for distant buyers.

How does software help service companies working in two states?

By applying the right rules without anyone thinking about it. Roofing, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical and remodeling companies in the region routinely cross the line between North and South Carolina. Each state has its own licensing, its own treatment of sales tax on labor and materials, and its own permit processes by town and county.

A system that knows where each job is can apply the correct tax to an estimate and invoice, attach the right license number to documents, prompt for the permit that jurisdiction requires and assign only technicians who are qualified to work there.

Around that we build the usual tools: scheduling that accounts for travel across a wide territory, estimates presented and signed on a tablet, photographs and notes on each job, and a customer link showing what is happening. Tax rules are set up to your accountant's specification, since North Carolina in particular taxes many repair and installation services.

What can you build for engineering and energy services firms?

The project controls around the engineering. The region has many firms serving power generation, transmission, nuclear and industrial clients. Their work produces large volumes of drawings, calculations, specifications and correspondence, all of which must be reviewed, approved and traceable.

We build tools that track each deliverable through its review cycle, show who owes what and when, record approvals and keep a history of every revision. Project dashboards bring schedule, budget, hours and open items together. Field inspection and commissioning records are captured on tablets and linked to the equipment they concern.

Two limits apply. We do not build or connect to control systems that operate physical equipment, where specialist engineering and security standards govern. And some work in the nuclear and defense sectors involves export-controlled information or requirements that work be performed in the United States, which we do not take on. Our tools handle project administration, and your compliance staff define the boundary.

What do motorsports teams and precision shops need?

Traceability and speed. A racing team manages thousands of parts, each with a history of use, inspection and service life. A machine shop serving racing, aerospace and medical customers has to show exactly how each part was made and checked.

For teams, we build systems that track every component: what it is fitted to, how many miles or cycles it has run, when it must be inspected or retired. Setup records, checklists and build sheets for each event are held together and can be compared across races. For shops, we build job tracking from quote to shipment, with inspection records and certificates attached.

Confidentiality is paramount. Teams guard their technical data closely, and a system must restrict who sees what, log access and keep data in accounts the team controls. We sign a non-disclosure agreement before seeing anything. Work for defense customers that involves export-controlled data is outside what we do.

What does a software vendor need before selling to a bank?

Features its product may not have yet. Banks must manage the risk of every outside company they rely on, and their reviews are thorough. A vendor will be asked how users are authenticated, how access is limited, what is logged, how data is encrypted, where it is hosted, how incidents are handled and whether an independent auditor has examined its controls.

Many young companies discover that the product needs work before it can pass: single sign-on with the customer's identity provider, fine-grained roles, a complete audit trail that customers can export, encryption throughout, data retention and deletion controls, and administrative screens for the customer's own security team.

We build those features into existing products. An independent audit report such as SOC 2 is issued to your company by an audit firm, not by us, but well-built controls and clean evidence make the audit far easier. We work in your repository under your processes, with accounts you issue.

What will you not take on for the financial sector?

Anything that puts regulated customer data in front of an offshore team. Charlotte is one of the largest banking centers in the country, and it would be easy to imply that we work inside that world. We do not.

Banks commonly restrict or prohibit access to their customers' information from outside the United States, and their contracts pass those terms down to suppliers. We are a team in India. We do not build or operate systems that hold bank customer data, we do not work in a bank's production environment, and we do not build trading, lending decision or payment systems.

What remains is real and useful: public websites and marketing for companies in the sector, product features developed with synthetic data, internal tools that hold no customer information, and software for the many businesses in the region that have nothing to do with banking. Our financial services page describes how we work with regulated firms.

What technology and security practices do you use?

Mainstream technology that other developers can maintain: TypeScript with React and Next.js for interfaces, Node.js or Python for services, PostgreSQL for data and a major cloud provider in a United States region. Where your company has standards, we follow them.

Security is a set of ordinary disciplines applied without exception. Access is by role through single sign-on with a second factor. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every significant action is logged. Backups are tested. Development uses synthetic or masked data. We complete vendor security questionnaires as part of the proposal.

You own the result. Code is in your repository from the first day, cloud accounts are in your name and our agreement assigns intellectual property to you on payment. We write documentation, tests and deployment scripts so that another team could take over.

How does a software project run with a remote team?

It begins with a paid discovery of two to three weeks. We interview the people who do the work, examine current systems and produce a specification, wireframes and an estimate that are yours to keep.

Development runs in two-week sprints, each ending with a demonstration on a staging system. Progress and decisions are recorded in a tracker you can see. Calls are between 9 am and 1 pm Eastern, and since our working day runs through your night, questions raised in the afternoon usually have answers by morning.

We are based in Pune, India, and have no Charlotte office, so workshops are held by video. Field staff usually need a phone app, described on our mobile app development in Charlotte page. Contracts and payment are explained on our software development for US companies page, and our other services on the Charlotte overview.

Pricing & engagement

How do pricing and engagement work?

Discovery is a small fixed-price project. Development is then quoted in US dollars as a fixed price per phase where the scope is clear, or as a monthly team rate where requirements will evolve. The cost depends on the number of user roles and screens, integrations, security requirements and data migration. Cloud hosting and third-party services are paid by you directly. Support after launch is a separate monthly plan. We do not publish prices because projects differ so widely, but discovery gives you a detailed estimate before you commit to building.

Working with a remote team

When can we meet in your time zone?

Our team works from Pune, India. We do not have a US office, so every project is run remotely with a named project manager, a weekly call and written updates. These are the hours we keep for calls with US clients.
