CASE STUDY: CHATBOT DEVELOPMENT

Buddy: A 3D Chatbot That Guides Visitors and Captures Leads

A 3D character chatbot that answers questions about services, guides visitors and captures leads by asking a few simple questions.

In short

Buddy is the 3D chatbot on the Quavento Technologies website. It greets visitors, answers questions about services from a reviewed knowledge base, recommends the right service and captures leads by asking a few simple questions. Enquiries and chats go to an admin panel where the team can reply and improve the answers.

What is Buddy and why did we build it?

Buddy is the small 3D character you can see in the corner of this website. It is a chatbot we designed and built for ourselves, and it now serves as a working example of our chatbot development service.

Our website has more than a hundred service pages. A visitor who is not sure whether they need SEO, a new website or ads can get lost. We wanted a guide that could answer a question in plain words, point to the right page and take down an enquiry at any hour.

What problems did Buddy have to solve?

Most website chat widgets are ignored. We wrote down why, and treated each reason as a problem to solve.

  1. 01

    Chat widgets look alike

A grey bubble in the corner is easy to miss. Visitors have learned to tune it out.

  2. 02

    Long forms put people off

Many visitors will answer one question at a time but will not fill in a form with eight fields.

  3. 03

    Wrong answers do damage

A chatbot that invents a price or a promise is worse than no chatbot. Every answer had to be one we had approved.

  4. 04

    Small screens

A chat window that covers the whole phone screen hides the page the visitor came to read.

  5. 05

    Leads scattered everywhere

Enquiries from forms, chats and job applications needed to arrive in one place where the team could act on them.

How did Quavento Technologies solve it?

We gave the chatbot a character, kept its answers under our control and built the back office to go with it.

  1. 01

    A character, not a bubble

Buddy is a 3D mascot with a face, a small body, hands and legs, drawn in the website's own colours. It waves on arrival, looks towards the cursor, climbs as the page scrolls and changes pose while it talks or thinks.

  2. 02

Answers from a reviewed knowledge base

Buddy does not use a language model to make up replies. It matches the visitor's question to a knowledge base of answers our team has written and checked, using fuzzy search so that spelling mistakes still find the right answer. When it is not sure, it says so and offers to pass the question to a person.

  3. 03

    Lead capture by conversation

To request a quote, ask for a call back or book a free audit, the visitor answers one short question at a time. A service advisor asks about goals and business type and then recommends a service.

  4. 04

A greeting in the visitor's language

Buddy speaks its welcome aloud and chooses the language from the visitor's browser and location, including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati and Bengali, with Indian, American and British English.

  5. 05

    A compact chat on mobile

On a phone the chat opens as a small bubble with Buddy sitting on top, so the page stays visible behind it.

  6. 06

    One admin panel

Form submissions, chatbot leads, chat transcripts and job applications arrive in a single admin panel. The team can also see questions Buddy could not answer and add new answers there.

What is Buddy made of?

Buddy is custom code from the character to the database. Nothing is a rented chat widget.

  1. 01

    3D character

Built in Three.js from simple shapes, so it is light to download. A flat drawing of Buddy appears instantly and the 3D version takes over once it has loaded.

  2. 02

    Matching engine

Fuse.js compares the question with the knowledge base and answers only when the match is strong enough. Weaker matches are offered as suggestions.

  3. 03

    Guided flows

Quote request, call back, free audit, service advisor and ask a question, each with validation for phone numbers and email addresses.

  4. 04

    Voice

The browser's own speech engine reads the greeting, so no audio files are downloaded.

  5. 05

    Back end

Leads and chats are saved to Firebase. The website can only write new records. Reading them requires a signed-in team member.

  6. 06

    Privacy

Chats are saved only when the visitor has accepted cookies, and the cookie notice says so.

What was the result?

Buddy is live on every page of this website. You can open it now, ask what a website costs or which service suits your business, and send an enquiry without filling in a form.

We have not published lead numbers. The claim we can stand behind is one you can test: Buddy only gives answers our team has written, and every enquiry it collects reaches the admin panel.

What can other businesses take from this project?

A chatbot earns its place when it answers real questions correctly and makes it easier to enquire. Start with the twenty questions your customers ask most, write good answers, and add a way to hand over to a person.

A character helps people notice the chat, but the answers and the follow-up do the work. If you would like something similar on your site, see our chatbot development and custom software pages.

Frequently asked questions

Does Buddy use ChatGPT or another AI model?

No. Buddy answers from a knowledge base that our team has written and reviewed, and uses fuzzy search to match a visitor's question to the right answer. This means it cannot invent prices or promises.

How does Buddy capture leads?

Buddy asks one short question at a time, such as your name, phone number and what you need. When the conversation ends, the enquiry is saved to an admin panel where the team can follow up.

Will a 3D chatbot slow down my website?

Buddy is built to avoid that. A flat image appears first, and the 3D character loads afterwards without blocking the page. The character is drawn from simple shapes, so there is no heavy model file to download.

Can Quavento Technologies build a chatbot like Buddy for my website?

Yes. We can build a chatbot with your own character, your own knowledge base and an admin panel for your team. Ask us for a free proposal.

Which languages can Buddy greet visitors in?

Buddy greets visitors in English and in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati and Bengali. It picks the language from the visitor's browser settings and location.
