Dallas has long been a place where goods change hands in bulk. Retail buyers come to its trade center to place orders with brands. Distribution centers around the airport and along the highways ship to the whole country. Chains with hundreds of stores are run from offices in its suburbs.
So an online store here often has to do more than sell one item to one shopper. It may take a wholesale order of four hundred units, let a customer collect from the nearest of sixty locations, or route a parcel from whichever warehouse is closest. This page explains how we build for that.

With one catalog and two sets of rules. A brand that sells to consumers and to stores usually ends up with two systems that drift apart: different product data, stock counted twice and orders retyped. Running both from one platform fixes that.
Shoppers see retail prices and buy single items. Trade buyers log in and see wholesale prices, case quantities, minimum order values and the terms they have been granted. They can order from a line sheet view that shows a whole collection in a grid, reorder from past orders and choose a ship date weeks ahead, which is how stores buy for a season.
Stock is shared, with the option to reserve quantities for wholesale commitments. Sales representatives can place orders on a buyer's behalf, at a trade market or on the road, and are credited for them. New trade accounts apply online and are approved by your staff, with their resale certificate on file so the orders are not taxed.
Everything speeds up. Brands that exhibit at the wholesale markets in Dallas write a large share of their orders in a few days, several times a year. Buyers walk the showroom, choose, and expect confirmation before they leave.
The store should support that directly. Representatives take orders on a tablet in the showroom, scanning or tapping products into a buyer's account, with prices, minimums and available quantities shown live. The buyer receives a confirmation by email on the spot. New accounts can be opened in a few minutes.
After the market, the same buyers reorder online between shows. Market specials, such as free freight above a threshold or a discount for early commitment, are set up as rules with start and end dates. Reports by representative, territory and collection tell the brand what sold and what to cut. Preparing all this is done weeks before the market, not during it.
By treating each store as stock and as a service point. A retailer, restaurant group or service brand with dozens of locations has an advantage a pure online seller lacks: the goods are already near the customer.
The site shows what each location has. A customer can buy online and collect in an hour, or have the order shipped from the nearest store. Returns are accepted at any location. Gift cards and loyalty balances work everywhere, online and in person. A customer who starts on a phone and finishes at a counter sees one business.
This depends on accurate stock in each store and a connection between the website and the point of sale or inventory system. For franchised brands there is a further question of who gets the revenue for an online order, which the system must allocate to the right franchisee according to your agreements. We build these rules to the terms you set.
Its position and its infrastructure. The region sits near the center of the country, with one of the world's busiest airports, a second major airport, a large inland logistics hub with rail and several interstate highways. Ground shipments reach most of the United States in two to three days from a single location.
That makes it a common choice for a first or only national warehouse. A brand does not need to split inventory between coasts to give reasonable delivery times everywhere, which keeps stock simpler and cheaper to hold.
We connect the store to the warehouse management or third-party logistics system, so orders are sent automatically and stock and tracking return without retyping. Wholesale and consumer orders can share the warehouse while following different packing and shipping rules. Severe weather, from hail to ice, occasionally halts trucks, and a banner with adjusted delivery estimates is prepared in advance.
With delivery quoted honestly and scheduled properly. Dallas is a center of the home furnishings trade, and many brands and retailers here sell sofas, tables, lighting and rugs direct.
Large pieces travel by freight. The customer chooses between delivery to the curb, to the door or into the room with assembly, and the price depends on the destination. Checkout quotes it and offers an appointment. Made-to-order items show their lead time before purchase, and federal rules require sellers to ship when they say or offer a refund.
Fabric swatches, full dimensions, a view of the piece in each finish and a clear policy on damage and returns reduce the hesitation a buyer feels about something they cannot touch. Interior designers are an important customer group, with their own trade pricing, and can be given accounts that let them specify and order for clients.
By location, with care. Texas combines a state rate with local taxes from cities, counties, transit authorities and special districts, up to a legal maximum. The total differs across the many jurisdictions of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Which local tax applies to an order depends on where the seller has a place of business, where the order is received or fulfilled and where it is delivered. For a business with many stores and a warehouse, an order shipped from a store, one shipped from the warehouse and one collected at a counter can each be treated differently. The state has revised these rules in recent years.
Wholesale buyers hold resale certificates, which are kept on file and applied automatically. Texas also holds sales tax holidays, including a weekend before the school year for clothing, footwear and supplies under a set price. We configure the tax engine or a service such as Avalara or TaxJar, and your accountant confirms registrations and the setup.
They need attention once a brand sells through many retailers. A common problem is a retailer or an unauthorized seller advertising the product below the price the brand wants, often on a marketplace, which angers other stockists.
Many brands adopt a minimum advertised price policy and enforce it by choosing whom they supply. Such policies have legal limits and must be drafted by an attorney, since agreements on resale prices can raise antitrust questions. Our part is practical: a dealer portal that publishes the policy, a clear list of authorized retailers on the site and product data that helps you identify where goods are appearing.
A brand's own store has to be careful as well. Undercutting your retailers with constant discounts damages the channel. We can limit promotions to products that are not in wholesale distribution, or share online sales with a local stockist, if that is how you choose to run it.
Texas has a privacy law that gives residents rights to access, correct and delete their personal data and to opt out of its sale and of targeted advertising, and it requires covered businesses to honor browser opt-out signals. A brand selling nationally meets similar laws in other states. We configure consent tools that actually control tracking tags and document which services receive customer data.
Online stores, and multi-location brands in particular, are frequent targets of claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act. A customer using a keyboard or screen reader must be able to search, check store stock, add to cart and pay. We build to WCAG 2.2 level AA and test each step by hand.
Promotional texts need prior written consent under federal law, and email must identify the sender and honor opt-outs. Loyalty programs collect personal data and should say plainly what is collected and why.
In defined stages. We review products, channels, locations, tax position and systems, agree a written scope, design the main templates and build on a development environment. Integration with the point of sale, inventory or ERP system is examined first, because it decides what is possible.
Before launch we place test orders as a shopper and as a trade buyer, for shipping, store pickup, freight and future ship dates, across several tax jurisdictions, and check every price, tax line and email. Shopify suits many brands here, including for wholesale, as described on our Shopify development for Dallas page. Large catalogs and complex multi-location inventory may need another platform, and our national ecommerce development page compares them.

An ecommerce build is quoted as a fixed price in US dollars against a written scope and paid in milestones. The price depends on the platform, the size of the catalog, wholesale features, the number of locations and how their stock is held, freight and scheduling, and integrations with point of sale, ERP and warehouse systems. Platform fees, payment processing, apps and tax services are paid by you to those providers. Support after launch is a separate monthly plan. We do not publish prices because a single brand's store and a sixty-location retailer's are very different projects.
Our team works from Pune, India. We do not have a US office, so every project is run remotely with a named project manager, a weekly call and written updates. These are the hours we keep for calls with US clients.
